POLICE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT SPARKS UNITY
On May 29, the Nigeria Police Force, Rivers State Command, partnered with VTBF to host a football tournament at the Port Harcourt Club Football Field. The event, attended by senior officers, featured two thrilling matches. The CP Management Team, led by Commissioner of Police CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, played a draw against Female DPOs and Senior Female Officers, while Tactical Commanders and Male DPOs defeated the PCRC and Honorary Members of the Mess. Cash prizes were awarded for outstanding performances, fostering camaraderie and celebrating Hon. Briggs’ milestone.
PRAISE CONCERT AND EMPOWERMENT IN ABONNEMA
On May 31, VTBF organized a “Day of Praise and Empowerment” themed “All Thanks to God” at Briggs Compound (Onubio), Abonnema, Akuku Toru LGA. The event featured gospel performances by Sensational Bamidele, Jackson Jones, and the Kalabari Kingdom Mass Choir, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and unity. Hon. Briggs distributed cash gifts to over 500 beneficiaries, including elders, youths, okada riders, and classmates. VTBF also announced it would cover school fees for all private secondary school students from JSS1 to JSS3 in Abonnema. The evening continued with a lively celebration at Ediz Wine Bar, featuring gospel music and a comedy performance by Danny Spry.
CHILDREN’S DAY PARTY BRINGS JOY TO PORT HARCOURT BARRACKS
Also on May 31, Hon. Briggs, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), 6 Division Chapter, led by Chairperson Mrs. Manfon Ejim-Emekah, hosted a Children’s Day party at the 29 Battalion Parade Ground, Port Harcourt Barracks. The event, blending Children’s Day (May 27) and Briggs’ birthday, featured performances, competitions, and prizes for children, who also received free exercise books and writing materials. NAOWA honored Briggs with an award for his dedication to community upliftment, leaving a lasting impact on the young attendees.
UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LEGENDS HANGOUT
On the same day, football fans gathered at Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, for the UEFA Champions League Legends Hangout, hosted by Oga Sammy Wajinya. Former Super Eagles stars, including Mutiu Adepoju, Finidi George, and Austin Eguavoen, shared stories and watched the Champions League final. Hon. Briggs, a special guest, received an award, adding to the festive spirit of the evening.
NAVY GOLF TOURNAMENT AT SEALORD GOLF CLUB
On June 3, the Nigeria Navy (NNF Pathfinder), in collaboration with VTBF, hosted a “Birthday Kitty” golf tournament at the Sealord Golf Club. Over 45 golfers competed in an 18-hole Shot Gun format, with Hon. Briggs teeing off at noon. The event concluded with his induction as a member of the Sealord Golf Club and an award for his contributions to sports and society. Prize winners included Adaugo Martins (Ladies Longest Drive), Diepreye William (Men’s Longest Drive), Cheeze Charles (Ladies Best Net), and Frank Daniel (Men’s Best Gross), among others.
