On this day in 1956, 32 people died when a British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) plane crashed into a tree shortly after takeoff from the Kano Airport in Nigeria
On this day in 2002, Africa’s worst ever train disaster killed 281. The crash occurred near Msagali, Tanzania, when a passenger train with some 1200 passengers rolled back down Igandu hill after its brakes had failed.
