Responsibilities The Mayo Clinic Department of Critical Care Medicine in Jacksonville, Florida seeks an Nocturnist Intensivist to deliver world‑class care to complex patients. Candidates will provide exceptional patient care, contribute to resident/fellow education, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including advanced practice providers, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and all care team members. A board certification in Critical Care and an unrestricted Florida license are required. Ideal qualifications include: Two or more years of experience managing complex ICU patients, including common and advanced bedside procedures. Experience as an attending staff member in Critical Care (e.g., 2 years) or year as Chief Resident/Chief Fellow plus year as attending. Proficiency in bedside critical care ultrasound for assessment and procedures. Advanced knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology, hemodynamics, and multimodal monitoring. Strong interest in academic acute care medicine with proficiency in educating medical learners and teaching physician extenders or advanced practice providers. Research interests in outcomes research, big data, information technology, predictive analytics, and quality improvement tools are ideal. ICU coverage may include: Medical ICU CVTx ICU (Cardiovascular, Thoracic, Transplant) – manages critically ill patients with cardiology, heart/lung transplant, mechanical circulatory devices, thoracic surgery and complex vascular surgery. TXCCS (Abdominal Transplant and Surgical ICU) – manages liver/kidney failure–transplant patients and critical care from hepatobiliary, colorectal, urology and orthopedic surgery specialties. Build strong partnership with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Provide supervision, admission staffing, and clinical education to Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, Surgery and Family Practice residents and advanced supervision to Critical Care fellows. Expected skills: Excellent communicator and mediator with a high emotional quotient. Leadership ability to resolve conflicts and guide the team. Strong interpersonal skills with physicians, APPs, nursing and administrative leaders. Steward of resources with effective team management. Qualifications Candidates must be board‑certified or board‑eligible in Critical Care Medicine (ABA, ABEM, ABIM, or ABS) and eligible for an unrestricted Florida license. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to an academic career in critical care and should have previous clinical research experience. Schedule Full time. 80 hours per week.
