Site Safety Manager – El Paso, TX

Location: El Paso, TX
Project Location: Fort Bliss
Salary: $85,000–$125,000 annually
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Manager / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee safety operations on an active federal construction project at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX .

The Safety Manager will serve as the sole safety professional on site , overseeing all safety activities and ensuring compliance with federal construction requirements, OSHA standards, and EM 385-1-1 . The ideal candidate will have previous federal construction experience and the ability to work independently while maintaining a strong safety culture across the project.

The project involves the construction of barracks . There are additional projects at Fort Bliss, and the company is looking for someone who is willing to travel to future projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary safety professional and point of contact for the project.
• Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans and procedures.
• Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and construction activities.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 requirements.
• Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee training.
• Identify hazards and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations and maintain accurate documentation.
• Coordinate with project management, subcontractors, and field personnel regarding safety requirements.
• Maintain required safety records, logs, permits, and inspection documentation.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with project safety requirements.
• Promote a strong safety culture throughout all phases of construction.
• Support the project team with hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction safety experience.
• Federal construction experience required.
• Experience working on USACE, NAVFAC, or other government projects preferred.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required.
• EM 385-1-1 training and experience required.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• Strong knowledge of federal construction safety requirements and OSHA regulations.
• Ability to independently manage all site safety responsibilities.
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Must be willing and able to travel to future projects as needed.

Bilingual English/Spanish is not required.
